So the fourth show & to be fair, a bit of a mishmash. First off the weather’s not helping. In Barry today it’s going to be 20c, hang on, that’s fine in June, but it’s blooming OCTOBER and 12 weeks to Christmas. If they’re calling this an Indian Summer, then what do people in Delhi call it? Do they say “Oh, we’re having a Welsh Summer” if they’re weather is lush?
We also discussed the concept of the twisted lyric – that is where you hear something in a song that’s actually not in the song. Two cracking examples are Lady Gaga’s Poker face, or as my friend Terry sings, “Cherry Pie, cherry pie”, plus Queen discussing Saturday afternoons in a Kind of Magic.
It’s also been my mam’s birthday today, so the traditional playing of a song for my mam happened – had to be a bit of Queen. The only problem is when I play Queen, she tends to reach for her phone being as I’ve got Queen ringtones on it. It can be quite funny in a quiet room when all of a sudden you get Radio Gaga playing out loud.
There was also In Da Car, with the classic Beatles Hey Jude (and hoping everyone’s forgotten about my faux pas about leaving the Paul McCartney gig three songs before the actual end-DOH)
Music wise it was awesome. If you missed the show, you missed out on some cracking tunes this week from:
